Cantilever shelves for mounting light- to medium-weight IT peripherals
2-post-mounting shelves get mounted to one set of rails (two posts) in a rack (as opposed to 4-post-mounting shelves that get mounted to two sets of rails (four posts) in a rack.
When mounted in 4-post racks, cantilever shelves offer the flexibility of being mounted anywhere in the rack without occupying rear rack-space.
2-post-mounting shelves' cantilevered design (where one side of the shelf gets mounted to the rack's uprights while the other side is floating) calls for taller mounting flanges with at least two mounting-points on each side.
Rackit's 2-post-mounting shelves are available in two design styles:
Single-sided shelves
Single-sided shelves are used primarily in conjunction with 2-post racks and wall-mount racks, but they are also very effective as front-mounting shelves in 4-post racks, accommodating light to medium weight peripherals such as modems, KVM switches, routers or monitors while occupying rack-space only on one side of the rack.

Double-sided shelves
Double-sided shelves are designed to be used with 2-post racks, featuring a mounting surface that protrudes both to the front and to the back of the rack, supporting a higher weight-capacity and an increased weight distribution on the rack.
